WILDLIFE
Trumpeter Swans at Magness Lake
Every winter, one of nature's most remarkable spectacles unfolds just east of Heber Springs. A flock of majestic Trumpeter Swans migrates to Magness Lake, the furthest south of any swan population in the United States. Up to 150 of these beautiful birds have been spotted at one time, making it one of the most incredible birding experiences in the country.
The phenomenon began in 1991 when just three swans appeared on the lake, believed to have been knocked off course by a storm. They must have liked what they found, because they've returned every year since and brought their friends and family. Seasonal guests at Heber Springs RV Park & Storage look forward to this annual event and the peaceful drive out to Magness Lake to witness it firsthand.

Heber Springs' charming downtown is a walkable destination filled with unique shops, art galleries, antique stores, and locally owned restaurants. When hunger strikes, you'll find everything from lakeside fine dining at The Red Apple Inn to casual favorites like Smoke House Restaurant and Mack's Fish House. The downtown square, anchored by the stately Cleburne County Courthouse, hosts seasonal events, festivals, and the beloved Arkansas Trail of Lights holiday display.
